“Chelsea is the most hilarious person on a Zoom call, EVER.” Sam Peterson. In an effort to get to know her, AWD asked our new Livability Program Coordinator some questions. Here are her answers:
Where are you from, and did your hometown/upbringing influence your work choices?
I am from Kinston, NC. Sports and athletics have a large impact in our city. Physical activity and healthy living have been important to me which led me to study Exercise Science and Public Health in my
academic career.
Where have you worked and what’s your main interest?
I have worked in research within the federal and university sectors and I have worked as a Health
Educator within a hospital system. My interest areas include health promotion and health education. I
enjoy learning and teaching others how to live healthier lifestyles at different stages of life to promote
longevity and prevent illnesses.
What’s your go-to comfort thing? Food, activity?
I have a number of hobbies depending on the day. I love enjoying a delicious meal, going to the gym or
an exercise class, or watching an interesting TV series or documentary. My most recent hobby is tending
to my vegetable garden. I’ve also been learning to enjoy the beauty of rest and stillness to be able to
pour from a full cup.
